Lest we forget

Remembrance Weekend

As the nation falls silent in Remembrance of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, there are a number of events taking place at the church this weekend in commemoration.

On Sunday 12th November at 10am there will be a special service followed by An Act of Remembrance as we approach 11am, all are very welcome to join us.

During the afternoon a Peal will be rung to remember all the fallen. This has been organised between our own Bell Ringers and Ian Culham, a serving soldier who has lost friends in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Peal will be in memory to all who lost their lives but particularly Lance Corporal Ernest Newman who was a Bell Ringer here at Bocking.

Please also take the time to look at The Great War Memorial part of our website. Frank Toogood, a local resident and historian who runs visits to the Battlefields amongst many other things has put together this list, which gives details on nearly everyone named on the Memorial.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.
